You may have heard about Cuill (prononced “cool”), a technology start-up pioneering a new approach to search. The company claims it can index web pages way faster and cheaper than Google can.

Cuill was funded by search “killers” such as : Tom Costello, Anna Patterson.
Louis Monnier, founder of Altavista, is the VP of product.

The company had raised a first round of $8 million from Tugboat Ventures and Greylock Partners.
Adding another $25 million will, I hope, help Cuill going live faster unless it gets bought out before by Google !

Orange launched on April 14th its FLASHCODE offer.
The FLASHCODE brand is now owned by the AFMM (Association Française du Multimedia Mobile). Used to be formerly by Orange.

The Orange commercial offer amounts to 200 euros exc. VAT /months illimited scan by the end user.
2008 will be free of charge…good idea since the overall mobile fleet is really small : 3 000 000 compatible mobile phones in France —>so do not expect a usage boom this year. Orange Compatibility projections are : 18% in 2009, 39% 2010.

Yet, Brands reps (like Cityneo) need to pay first the AFMM 10 euros exc. VAT per 1 000 codes pack.

Bouygues Telecom offer soon to come. SFR (Vodafone Group) to pick up the pieces some time ?

This way the carriers are hoping to increase (and keep!!) the trafic on their Gallery portal while urging mobile phones equipment manufacturers to embedd the reader.

The Japanese Flashcode successful experience (87% japanese mobile owners scanned at least once a flashcode) should not prejudge the french one…(you know - cultural differences…). Let’s hope Flashcode will make its way in France.

Solucom a French based consulting group has just announced they bought the Cosmosbay~Vectis, a management consulting firm.

Solucom has grown big time these past few years reaching now a workforce of 850 people throughg internal and external growth.

I recently discovered Kartoo’s newest software suite demo of Kvisu.

Kvisu seems to be a powerful tool aiming at synthesizing search information using semantic mapping

As you can see from the demosearch result information is gathered in clusters that can be expanded when clicked on.
Each clusters represents a word appearance frequency in search results.

I believe sematic mapping ’s future looks promising. I guess it will be increasingly needed within a corporation but also on the internet in parallel to complex, real time internet, intranet information data management.

You may have stumbled into it. LinkedIn recently implemented a new function called “Viewers Of This Profile Also Viewed” you can see on the right side of one’s profile.
This is another great networking or should I say marketing intelligence tool
For instance, when you go on my profile, you get to see the other profiles that people are most likely to visit if they visited mine.

When testing it I’ve identified lots of relevant contact very quickly this way.

No question about it, to me LinkedIn is definitively the best international professional networking tool to be.
